I would give 10-stars if Yelp has that option!!
THIS is the real deal folks!! I have eaten at Chinese restaurants all over the US, for the past 20++ years. Very few places come close. This is the ONLY Chinese restaurant that I plan to go back again, and again, and again ...
Just a selection of the many reasons:
1) NO MSG or similarly bad chemicals. Almost all Chinese restaurants in the US that I have been to load up their food with MSG or other taste-enhancers so you think you're enjoying great Chinese food when you're actually killing your bodies.
2) NO bad grease/oil. I have a very clean gut. When I go out to restaurants, my body lets me know if the food was prepared with integrity, not with re-used oil, for instance. (I won't go into the details HOW my gut knows ...)
3) Honest ingredients. Gourmet food has to be made with GOOD ingredients. Jing Jing uses only top-grade ingredients in all dishes. The veggies in our dishes are so fresh, as if they were picked on the same day. The dumplings and egg-rolls are HAND-MADE in their kitchen (not from pre-made supplies). Not many Chinese restaurants does these things.
4) The ambience and service are top-notch.
5) Great vegetarian options.
Anyone who doesn't think highly of this place probably likes those junky bad Chinese food that tantalizes your taste-buds but is actually bad for your body. Jing Jing brings my taste-buds to lofty heights and is good for my body too. So, definitely going back! -

After years and years of customer loyalty to this place, at 35-75 $ a shot..why we keep putting up with really bad service?? The answer is the vegetarian hot and sour soup. As a student of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I appreciate truly good nutrition and have not experienced soup like this that anywhere else. It is truly a phenomenal recipe.. wonderfully energizing, healing, scrumptious and refreshingly tonifying. It's quite expensive but is worth it. What of the vegetable dishes we had are pretty good but nothing outstanding and the vegetables are cut way too big. However the hunan tofu is excellent and also feels quite perfect in balance of yin and yang energies..similar to the soup. I just tried the kung pao tofu and was surprised how much I loved it because do not particularly care for peanuts, but this dish is also superb. The pan-fried noodles are bland, vegetables too big but actually I like the actual pan-fried noodles very much. I do not care for their mu-shu vegetables. Now that have read other reviews, it is probably the MSG taste that really stands out in that dish. I actually didn't know they or any Chinese restaurant still put MSG in their food..good to know.
I hope I can promote some of their awesome menu items while also saying that at best, their dine in service is cold, harried and hurried. So we down-graded to carry-out and twice our vegetarian pan-fried noodles came with CHICKEN..there's nothing worse for a vegetarian than that. All the lady at the front did was to give me the exact penny for penny amount back. I was surprised actually. The restaurant owners back in the days of my waitressing would have been horrified of that kind of error, especially happening twice. They would have had the whole party eat for free. Or in the least offered the vegetarian who got the chicken in their food another option right away with a cocktail or dessert offered along with a host of apologies.
We didn't return for months and months and were missing that soup. I ordered our usual items and I asked the same lady at the front to please check that there is no chicken in the vegetarian pan-fried noodles..it was like she was doing a big favor.. it is so unnecessary. One last example of her poor manners..we always ask for no mushrooms of any kind. One time there were the long stringy rubbery kinds,I don't know what they are called. The lady was really defensive and said "They're not mushroom, they're fungus" Who on earth would not discern that if a customer asks for no mushrooms, then that would also include all fungi. She did not refund us on that one.
It's shameful that some really quality dishes can have bad Qi because of one individual. Of course you can transmute it, but that takes time, and then the soup is cold and you have to reheat it. Is would have been lovely to have felt welcomed "Nice to see you. So sorry about the chicken. I will definitely make sure to check every time. You don't even have to ask. We appreciate your business."
If anyone reading knows of a good ol' skool Chinese restaurant can you please message me.
Blessings to all. -

I have been visiting Jing-Jing since I was a little girl... I loved it then and I still love it now. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. Definitely recommend people try it out...the original sweet and sour pork is phenomenal and so is the dried sautéed string beans

A friend of mine works at Stanford, I went to meet him for lunch on campus, but he suggested going off campus and getting some Chinese food. Don't threaten me with a good time!
This place was pretty plain looking, waiters were no nonsense and not overly friendly.
We split an order of egg rolls and we each ordered a 2 item lunch special I went with szechuan chicken and beef broccoli. Lunch comes with corn soup or hot & sour soup, I asked for egg drop soup as a replacement and was accommodated at no extra charge.
Egg rolls were fantastic! Super crispy and light, which a great veggie filling. Soup was OK, a little bland, so I added some soy sauce to it.
Combo plate was really good, broccoli was very crisp and fresh, the beef was high quality and tasty, and the sauce was flavorful. The szechuan chicken was delicious, and very spicy! A few of my bites were too hot to handle, so I started picking out the peppers. The chicken was great though, I just couldn't handle the heat.
Prices were great for lunch, about $12 for a combo plate. Service was fast, we were in and out of there in less than an hour. -

Great solid Chinese food! Our go to place for lunch / dinner. Love everything they have especially the hot and sour soup, sesame chicken, green beans and noodles.
The place is very clean. Service is very attentive. And most importantly serves authentic Chinese cuisine.
A Palo Alto downtown institution. You will not be disappointed.
